Dear colleagues,
Congratulations to some of you that have already started your 2016-2017 school year. I can’t wait to go back. September 1st is my first day back, with me meeting my students on September 6th. In the meantime, I wanted to share an incredible resource with you.
I love s’mores. Well, we all do, I’m sure. But this time I’m talking about S’more Pages. We all know how having parents as allies is essential and how we need to continuously keep the dialogue going. So, here is the kicker: with my monthly S’more newsletters, I can.
By the way, I get nothing from the company, not even a free subscription. But that’s ok, I don’t mind. In fact, I bought an educator’s subscription last fall, and it already paid for itself. I got paid in nice emails from parents that appreciated seeing what’s happening in my classroom; I got paid in having a place for additional resources for my students; I got paid in “Mrs. Pizzuto, I love reading your newsletters. You have cats?!”
Sending out a monthly S’more newsletter saves me so much time in terms of parent communication, touching base, and simply showing to the community the amazing things my students create in class.
Does it take a long time to put together? Not at all. I start a new one at the end of each month and slowly add stuff to it. For example, for my April newsletter I start accumulating material sometime at the end of March.
Smore also has something that’ s called The Educator Hive – a source where educators collaborate, share, and learn from each other. I get inspired every time I visit.
Below is an example of one of the newsletters and you can have a look at others HERE. I hope you’ll give S’more a try. It’s worth it.
